Book Word Association Game:
Just what it sounds like. Put down the first book or work of literature that comes to mind with whatever word is given. Feel free, though not obligated, to explain. I have written my answers in cream, so you can reply without influence if you so desire, and then highlight to see what I said.

Green: Bridge to Terabithia (there was lots of foliage in that book, I think)
Red: Where the Red Fern Grows
Spring: Les Travailleurs de la Mer (ask me about this one. The story’s too long to write out here)
Death: The Book Thief
Wings: Wings. (It’s a play by Arthur Kopit)
Maze: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Crowbar: Oliver Twist (it’s the best I could come up with. Maybe because they’re thieves and thieves use crowbars?)
Hyacinth: Keeping up Appearances. It’s a tv show, but I’m counting it as a work of literature.
Astronomical: Numbering the Stars
Blessed: Saint Joan by Shaw
Birth: David Copperfield.
Fate: Oedipus Rex. (How can you get more fated than that?)
Mumble: The Muppets (Yes, another TV show. But really, the Swedish Chef and Beaker are the best mumblers ever.)
Chimera: The Odyssey. (is there actually a chimera in the odyssey, or am I just attributing all of Greek Mythology to the one story?)
Terror: Blasted (very violent play by Sarah Kane involving the sucking of eyeballs out of somebody’s head)
Bear: Blueberries for Sal
Bunny: Bunicula (It’s the bunny vampire story that Katie Rutledge was in charge of reading to her kids)
Lion: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Song: Twelfth Night (For the rain it raineth every day…)
Robin: Batman. Comic books count, right?
Blue: Island of the Blue Dolphins
Pink: Eloise
Sky: Picnic (a play by William Inge. Lots of sky in it.)
Underneath: Fantastic Mr. Fox (by Raoul Dahl. Mr. Fox spends all his time in tunnels underneath the stupid, selfish mean humans.)
Volcanic: Les Miserables (the prose is just so volcanic: firey, passionate, and overwhelmingly voluminous.)
Remnant: Tristan et Iseut (the version by Beroul . . . it was found in fragments. All we have of it is a remnant.)
Fury: Oedipus at Colonus. I’m reading it now. The first line is something like, here we are in the grove of the Furies.
Undulate: Le Bon Leviathan (novel by Pierre Boule. All about boats, and the climax is a storm at sea.)
Dodo: Alice in Wonderland
Nose: Cyrano de Bergerac
Assent: Philoctetes (a play by Sophocles, all about getting a grumpy old guy to agree to something he doesn’t want to do.)
Jumping: Streamers (a play by David Rabe. “Streamers” refers to a parachute that streamlines instead of opening when you jump from a plane.)
Skate: L’Ecume des Jours (by Boris Vian. There are several violent, and ultimately disturbing, scenes set in a skating rink with zambonis pushing piles of bodies into a hole in the ice. Also, the hero of the book has ice skates with bifurcated blades that let him turn very quickly. I swear this is one of the most beautiful books in the world despite the zamboni thing.)
Gold: Treasure Island
Monster: Richard III (He’s a monster.)
Elephant: The Lord of the Rings (I think it’s in the second book where Sam and Frodo become transfixed by an Oliphant – an elephantlike creature. They get really excited about it.)
Magic: Dealing with Dragons
Statue: La Venus D’Ille (By Merimee. A statue comes to life and ends up hugging somebody.)
Dervish: Zazie dans le Metro (by Raymond Queneau. This novel has the effect of a whirling dervish on the French language, basic story structure and logic.)
Singularity: Percival by Chretien de Troyes (because the character is so necessarily a singularity among all the other characters.)
Food: Five Quarters of the Orange
Adoration: Midsummer Night’s Dream. (everyone adores everyone else at some point in that play)
Pleasant: The Swish of the Curtain
Pogo Stick: I have absolutely no book associations with pogo sticks. In fact the only pogo stick association I have is with a computer game: Commander Keen, who could jump really high if you found a pogo stick for him.
Popcorn: Artemis Fowl (These books are like popcorn. They look good, they satisfy some base need, but ultimately you might wish you had read something else and go looking for a glass of water.)
Umbrella: Jeeves and Wooster (in particular the book in which Bertie accidentally steals Sir Watkin Basset’s umbrella causing the latter to misidentify the former as an infamous bagsnatcher.)
Green: Green Angel
Red: The Red Tent
Spring: Invitation to the Game
Death: A Prayer for Owen Meany
Wings: Skellig (I really did think of that first, without seeing your answer)
Maze: HP and the Goblet of Fire
Crowbar: In The Night Kitchen (what a totally nonsensical association!)
Hyacinth: Song of Hiawatha
Astronomical: Fast Food Nation
Blessed: Many Waters
Birth: Many Waters again (the first birth scene I ever read)
Fate: Quietus
Mumble: I have many associations with this that are not works of literature....
Chimera: God Bless the Gargoyles
Terror: It
Bear: The Bear
Bunny: The Lovely Summer
Lion: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (what else?)
Song: Deep Wizardry
Robin: Robin Hood (or whatever the actual title is)
Blue: the Silent Storm
Pink: The Sleep of Stone
Sky: Wizard of Earthsea
Underneath: Wheel of Time
Volcanic: Bazil Broketail
Remnant: Show Way
Fury: The Night Listener
Undulate: Hmm... no association here.
Dodo: The Island Puzzle Book
Nose: Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret
Assent: Nothing for this either. Weird.
Jumping: Tuesday
Skate: No Baths for Tabitha!
Gold: She Who Remembers
Monster: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Elephant: Babar
Magic: The Mists of Avalon
Statue: The Children of Green Knowe
Dervish: Whatever issue it was of TMNT where they fought some dervishes, of the whirling variety.
Singularity: Contact
Food: Invitation to the Game
Adoration: That poem that we really liked, that ended with "then break my teeth," or something along those lines....
Pleasant: I think I have too many associations here to put one down.
Pogo stick: Um.... Nada.
Popcorn: Once again, nada. I'm losing steam here.
Umbrella: The Yellow Umbrella
